Carve Board Sports has been teaching kitesurfing since 2001 and is the only kitesurfing school and shop providing lessons in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch !. This means we can teaach in any wind direction. Our tuition is designed to cater for your specific needs once the basics have been achieved. We are based at our shop Carve, 850 Christchurch Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth BH 6AR, next to the UK’s only artificial surf reef.
Our kitesurf school operates all year round, seven days a week. We cater for everybody that would like to experience kitesurfing from all over the UK and Europe. Some mobile instructors teaching from vans and some shop based professional schools have soggy, sandy wetsuits thrown in the back of a van or store room. We ensure that all of our school kit is disinfected, clean, dry and ready to use. Students can use our changing facilities and have hot drinks before and after the course.
To try kitesurfing no previous experience of board sports or water sports is required, whatever your level we will take you through a comprehensively laid out course which complies with the IKO standards. However we insist on the learning curve being a fun experience for everyone, this is not boot camp!
If you already have your own kit we can evaluate your abilities and safely help you progress to the next level. Or if you are an experienced rider who wishes to make your first big jumps we have a program for you.

We provide introductory taster sessions, kitesurf clinics for experienced riders, team building exercises, corporate events, red letter days, gift vouchers and stag and hen parties can be arranged for that exhilarating pre marital experience with opportunities for great photos!
Organised parties will be run separately under strict safety guidance. There are many ways to experience the joys of kitesurfing. We operate with a personalised approach that will help you with those little things that make a big difference to your learning curve.

Lessons day 1
Day 1 - Introduction To Kitesurfing
Our IKO level 2 qualified instructors will introduce you to all aspects flying inflatable kites. The day begins with a safety briefing followed by an introduction to kite flying on land in order to gain the necessary basic kite skills before progressing to the water.
This course is designed as an introduction to traction kite flying and the basics of kite surfing. An absolute minimum of the two day course is recommended for people who plan to take up the sport seriously, i.e owning there own equipment.

* Introduction to 4 line kites, rigging, transporting and safety implications

* 4 line LEI kite flying
* Launching 4 line LEI kites in different conditions

* 4 line LEI kite body dragging downwind and upwind
* Situational awareness

* Water, Starting

Booking
The Day 2 course is designed to teach students to an IKO Level of 1-2 and follows the International Kiteboarding Organisation syllabus.
For potential kite surfers that are looking to take the sport up seriously (owning equipment) then this is the recommend level as the absolute minimum training. Students have now had time to reflect on what was covered on the day 1 of the course and should be ready to move on.
Having mastered the basics of kite flying and having been introduced to basic water starts, you will now work on further board skills. The second day builds on the first, in most cases introducing the 4 line, de-powerable kites. Your kite flying skills will step up a level, flying a more efficient de-power able kite will make your initial steps towards riding that little bit easier.
If a student is not ready to move on to this level arrangements can be made to cover any weak areas before moving on to the day 2.

Day 3 - Water Skills Course
If you are serious about getting into kite surfing then this extra day is highly recommended. You should at this stage in our opinion be safe in your own right and safe around your fellow water users. Some people at this stage may feel ready to buy their own kit and get out on the water and practice.
Please note again that South Coast Kite surfing is a dedicated kite surfing school that does not sell or operate by the sales of kite surfing equipment. However expert advice will be available to all students on what equipment is suitable for you. This is seen by many as a big step and we offer extra kite surfing coaching clinics to students with or without their own kit.
Building on the last 2 lessons this day is aimed at improving your water starts and riding. The course includes:

Private Tuition
As well as group lessons we also offer one-to-one tuition for £30 per hour. For this you get your own instructor and all necessary equipment. We reccomend private tuition for those who have had group tuition and are looking to focus on key areas be it riding up-wind or your first backloop kiteloop!
Private lessons are normally a minimum of 3 hours long but we are flexible

Outlaw League
Outlaw League
Since 2009 Carve and its riders have been heavily involved in the running, organising and competing in the Outlaw races, which were initially started by Gav _ Longboardsessions.co.uk, as well as other official UK races, in which our riders regurlarly get podiums.
This year saw the birth of the Southern Fairies OutLaw League, where again Carve and its riders are heavily involved in, continously pushing the sport forward.
Carve have also introduced the under 18s races, in which local riders can introduce themselves to the competitive side of the sport. Carve is the only shop/team in the U.K to be holding these brilliant races that are bringing fresh young talent to the sport.
